Project Red is a fully student-run organization at Queen’s University that promotes a healthy active lifestyle while raising funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada. Considering the horrifying statistics in Canada surrounding heart disease and stroke, we feel compelled to raise funds and awareness for the cause. We aim to positively influence university students and the Kingston community to better their health now and in the future. Since our conception in 2010, Project Red has raised over 100,000 dollars and remains the largest university fundraiser for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Project Red's main fundraiser is the annual Charity Fashion Show, which displays the individuality and creativity of Queen's students who are ultimately devoted to a common goal. This highly anticipated event is made possible by the hard work of student designers, dancers, models, photographers, videographers and technical crews. The Autumn 5K “Run Your Heart Out” event is another major fundraiser for Project Red. Other fundraisers held throughout the school year include fitness workshops, health snack sales, dance workshops, Jump Rope for Heart and more. The promotion and success of all these events are due to the highly functioning and driven Executive Committee.
